Charles Messer, Sr.

July 11, 1933 - June 15, 2018

Charles Davis Messer, Sr., 84, of Woodville, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospitals, Beaumont. He was born on July 11, 1933, in Kountze, to Mable and Samuel Messer. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army and later he retired after forty years at Temple Inland Paper Mill in Evadale

Survivors include his children, Charles Davis Messer, Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of Silsbee; Cathy Harvill and her husband, Bill, of Elgin; Sandra Gernand, of Jasper; and Charlotte Causey, of McCamey; grandchildren, Charles Davis Messer III, Kimberly Vickery, William M. Harvill II, Cody Brandon Hicks, Greyson Scott Gernand, Emily James, Thomas Causey, and Beau Causey; sister, Barbara Jenkins, of North Carolina and Mary Storm, of Evadale; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles is proceeded in death by his parents; wife of fifty-eight years, Lou Messer, sister, Frances Jenkins; and brother, Clarence Messer.

A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
