Charles William Young

Charles William Young, 71, of Warren, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Charles was born April 14, 1946, to William W. (Bill) Young and Helen Young of Fannett. He was a 1965 graduate of Hamshire-Fannett High School and proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War (1965-1968). He retired from Southwestern Bell after 32 years of service.

Charles was a beloved husband, Dad, Paw-Paw, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dee Ann Cartwright Young; son, Jason William Young and his wife, Kelli, of Lumberton; son, Chad William Young of Warren; grandsons, Jackson and Kolby Young; granddaughter, Ana Young; his father, William W. (Bill) Young; brothers, Bruce W. Young (Faye), Tilford L. Young, James W. Young (Jamie), James VanDevender (Vannette), David VanDevender (Mindy), John VanDevender (Cindy), Michael VanDevender (Stacey); sisters, Loretta Green and Tammy Hamm (Tony); sisters-in-law, Donna Paslick and Dell Lin Willis (Allen); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Bundick Young; father-in-law, Arthur “Moe” Cartwright and mother-in-law, Edna Barrilleaux Cartwright.

A gathering of Mr. Young’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Broussard’s. Serving as pallbearers will be: Charles Scott Young, Will Young, Jayce Baker, Josh Paslick, Wesley Parker, and Steven Parker and honorary pallbearer, Jimmy Bean. 

 A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
