Chester Anthony Broussard, Sr.

March 23, 1927 - October 5, 2020

Chester Anthony Broussard, Sr., 93, of Port Acres, died Monday, October 5, 2020, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born March 23, 1927, in Crowley, Louisiana, to Matilde LeBlanc Broussard and Jules Broussard.

Chester was a United States Army veteran having served as a medic during the Korean War. He retired from the Fina Refinery after thirty-five years of service and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight for several years.

Survivors include his children, Mike Broussard, of Port Arthur; Cathy Knott and husband, Rickie, of Nederland; Kevin Broussard, of Port Acres; and Larry Hebert and wife, Brenda, of Port Arthur; nineteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; siblings, Wanda Staley, of Call; Shirley Broussard, of Call; Glenda Reeves and husband, Raymond, of Buna; Jeanette Egan, of Orange; Rhonda Courmier, of Vinton, Louisiana; Cynthia Sartin, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Hewton “Bud” Broussard and wife, Gloria, of Lafayette, Louisiana; and Ronnie Broussard and wife, Tina, of Starks, Louisiana; daughters-in-law, Rosie Broussard, of Nederland and Jean McIntosh, of Mauriceville; and his sidekick, Russell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Matilde and Jules Broussard; wife, of sixty years, Shirley Marie Broussard; sons, Chester Broussard, Jr. and Randy Broussard; brother, Merlin Broussard; and sister, Zona Ramsey.

A gathering of Mr. Broussard’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2020, St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur, with his interment with military honors to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland. Friends are encouraged to join virtually by visiting www.littleflowerpa.org. Please be advised that St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church requires that anyone entering the sactuary must wear a mask.
