Curtis F. Scherry, Jr.

September 19, 1931 - November 30, 2017

Curtis Scherry, Jr., 86, of Warren, went to be home with the Lord on November 30, 2017. He was born on September 19, 1931, in Oakhurst, to Gracie Lee Hosea and Curtis Scherry, Sr. Curtis later moved to Groves and served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 in Korea and later retired as a boilermaker from Neches Butane in 1993. Curtis loved playing the old gospel songs and country tunes on his guitar, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose.

Survivors include his children, Shannon Scherry, of Beaumont; Brad Lee Scherry and his wife Barbara, of Groves; W.K. “Bill” Perkins, Jr. and his wife Delbra, of Livingston; Tim Perkins and his wife, Maggie; and Sue Clement, all of Tylertown, Mississippi; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents; wife of thirty years, Gloria Mae Scherry; brothers. T.R. Scherry, Billy Ray Scherry, Charles Scherry, and Joe Alvin Scherry; son, Terry J. “Big Boy” Perkins; daughter-in-law, Brenda Perkins; daughter, Stacie LaCombe; and grandson, Bradley Keith Perkins.

A gathering of Mr. Scherry’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. until his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, with his interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
