My heart breaks to find out that Debbie lost her battle with cancer. She was such a good school nurse and we shared many stories of kids while I worked with her.. God bless her family and may He give you peace and understanding as to why she had to leave so soon. My love and condolences.

The world is a much sadder place today without the wit, wisdom, and beautiful smile of Debbie Stephenson. I first knew Debbie as the school nurse at Vidor Elementary decades ago back in the days when my life included writing a weekly newspaper column. At that time it seemed we’d had a run of aches, pains, sniffles and sneezes at our home. So my column that week began, “You know it’s never good news when the school nurse calls . . .” The Monday after that Sunday column appeared I got a call from. Vidor Elementary. It was the school nurse (Debbie) calling to tell me everything was fine and she just wanted me to know that. I don’t even remember which of my kids was there at the time, but she assured me my child was fine, there was no crisis, and everybody was having a great day .. . and she laughed. Then we laughed together. That was Debbie. Always taking care of people one way or another. At the time I had no Idea her hard-working handsome son was going to grow up and marry an amazing woman who had barely taken her first steps when I met her. and whose parents are dear friends And I had no idea that I would spend many joyful times at graduation parties, bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday parties enjoying time with her. She was always so caring and will be greatly missed, May her husband, children, and grandchildren find comfort in both her legacy of love and the knowledge that she is now at peace. ❤️

We watched Debbie many years in Rose City as neighbors, where she showed much love and devotion as a mother and grandmother. She was able to worship with us recently at Rose City Baptist Church. Thoroughly enjoyed being around her. She was a very strong lady.

I was blessed to know Debbie and be part of the silly things we did as teenager, her marriage and birth of her children. Yes I moved away and we lost touch. Remarkably one day at Baytown Buccee’s I ran into Debbie and Billy. We then reconnected on Facebook and would spend sleepless nights texting each other. She told me one day that except for family I had known her longer than even Bill. We relived our past and laughed about our escapades. A piece of my heart has gone with her. I thank God that we had reconnected and reminisced. She was an amazing woman and Heaven has gained a beautiful soul.

Rest In Peace Debbie. Prayers for her husband, children and grandchildren. I remember Debbie’s laughter and beautiful smile she shared, while working together at Vidor E. The love and kindness she showed our children at school will be remembered by many..
