Donald Goodman

November 18, 1964 - February 2, 2019

Donald Ray Goodman, 54, of Winnie, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019. He was born to Johnnie Mae Deal and Joseph Oliver Goodman, on November 18, 1964, in Beaumont, Texas. Donald received his education through Beaumont Independent School District and was a 1983 graduate from South Park High School.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Jones Goodman, of Winnie; stepsons, Jordan Jones and Gordon Roberts, both of Winnie; stepmother, Denise Matthews Goodman; sister, Cassandra Wilson; and brothers, Johnny O. Deal, of Houston; Robert D. Goodman; Lloyd H. Goodman and his wife, Patrice; and Oliver B. Goodman and his wife, Reecie, all of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Pamela Jones Chavis and her husband, Michael; special aunt, Earline Guidry; two close friends, Joe Young and Mitch Templeton; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Denetta Deal; and favorite dog, Snoop.

At the time of his death, Donald was employed as a truck driver at Miller Me, in Beaumont. He was previously employed at Standard Alloys and Manufacturing.

In his spare time, Donald operated MOD Farm and Ranch and MOD Productions as a Rodeo Promoter. He enjoyed mentoring upcoming cowboys and training and breaking horses by getting them ready for the rodeo circuit.

Donald’s competitive spirit coupled with his love and excitement for the sport of rodeos, is the driving forces that catapulted him to attaining all around championship status.

He had many accomplishments and they are as follows: in 1984- Bill Picket Black Cowboy Salute; 1994- Bill Picket Invitational Rodeo “BPIR All Around Average Champion”; 1995 – State Fair of Texas Cowboys of Color Rodeo – All Around Cowboy; 1997- BPIR – All Around Cowboy; 1998- Back to Back Bill Picket All Around Champion; 1998 – Bill Picket Bareback Champion; 1998- Anahuac Saltgrass Cowboy Association Rodeo – Bareback Riding Runner Up; 2000 – Black Professional Cowboy; 2004 – Ike Carden Rodeo Association Steer Dogging Champion; 2011 – Louisiana Christian Production Steer Dogger Champion; and in 2016 – Oklahoma Texas Connection Steer Dogger Champion.

Donald was involved in many organizations, including All-Around 4 Event Cowboy; Bill Pickett Inv. Rodeo; Anahuac Salt Grass; Real Cowboy Association; U.S. Calf Roping; Cowboys of Color; S.W.C. Calf Roping; I.P.R.C.A.; P.R.C.A.; and C.P.R.A.

A memorial service for Mr. Goodman will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
