Dorothy Allen

Dorothy Allen, 92, of Winnie, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Riceland Medical Center, Winnie. She was born to Alice Adeline Boudreaux and Argee Williams on February 25, 1927, in Port Arthur.

Dorothy began playing music in 5th grade. She played clarinet and piano, was a drum major, earned a band pin, and was first chair once she was in high school. Dorothy enjoyed bowling and won many trophies doing it. She had many cherished memories in her life, but some of the most special were the bible she was given by her mom on her sixteenth birthday, the bible she received from the church at graduation, and her surprise 79th birthday party. Dorothy was a lover of reading and roses.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Rice and her husband, Butch, of Austin and Patricia Hutchings and her husband, Ricky, of Winnie; grandchildren, Jeff Brickell and his wife, Sondra; Shana Brickell; Jennifer Hatton and her husband, Jeff; and Yolie Belt and her husband, Derrick; great-grandchildren, Krystal Tye; Jesse Brickell and his wife, Rebecca; Emily Brickell; Elijah Brickell; Zac Belt; Reagan Hatton; Ryder Hatton; and Jace Hatton; and great-great-grandchild, Kylie Tye.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Allen; sisters, Christina Ingalls, Myrtle Carlise, Earline Reagle, and Melva Gibson; brother, Marvin Williams; and great-great-grandchild, Brendan Belt.

A gathering of Mrs. Allen’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Broussard’s, Winnie, with her interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville.
