Dr. Robin Elizabeth Perez
On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, Dr. Robin Elizabeth Perez, of Lumberton, went to be with the Lord.
Robin was born on December 2, 1960, in Gadsden, Alabama, to Carol Samples and Kenneth Steepleton. On March 8, 1980, she married Simon Perez at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Beaumont, Texas. Together they raised a daughter, Jordan, and son, Brice.
Dr. Perez devoted 38 years serving in education. She held a Bachelor’s Degree, two Master’s Degrees, and a Doctoral Degree from Lamar University. During her time as an educator, Dr. Perez served as a teacher in special education and mainstream education, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Dr. Perez has also served as an adjunct professor in the principal and superintendent program at Lamar University.
Robin had a passion for serving others. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Robin enjoyed spending time with those she loved, whether that be sitting together and watching a movie or going on an adventure to somewhere new. One of her favorite places to relax was the beach, where she took trips with her family since childhood. Robin was known for her kind heart, infectious smile, and her ability to make friends wherever she went.
Robin is survived by her husband, Simon Perez, of Lumberton; mother, Carol Worth, of Vidor; daughter, Jordan Fasulo and her husband, John, of Nederland; son, Brice Perez, of Lumberton; brother, Charles Steepleton and his wife, Melinda, of Vidor; sister, Debra Shann Steepleton-Kelly, of Vidor; and grandchild, Luke Anthony Fasulo.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Steepleton and step-father, Scott Worth.
A gathering of Dr. Perez’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 243 South LHS Drive, Lumberton. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont. A livestream of Dr. Perez’s service will be available via Infant Jesus Catholic Church’s Facebook page.

Loved working with Robin! Sometimes during my conference time, I would go into her room just to watch her teach. She had comete control of her classroom and the love and respect the kids have her was phenomenal! I meet Robin when she was assistant principal at LHS.I was the cosmetology Instructor in the night class.Robin would come in after school and get her nails and hair done.When my mother passed away in 2004,out of the blue she sent me a sympathy card with a note in it in the mail.I never told her my mom was sick-i suppose the students did.What struck me was Robin went out of her way to send me that card.She had to have called central office for my address. and I did not know her all that well.I was going thru a very hard time back then but Robin"s kindness made it better..It made me feel like other people cared about my loss.But I realized later on once i really got to know her-that"s how Robin was.By the way-I still have that card and note to this day!

Having know Robin for 20 years as an educator, we became good friends throughout the years. I never met an administrator who cared more about each student in her school districts, and I never knew one who worked longer hours to be sure all were provided for in their learning needs. I will miss the late night e-mails and phone calls as she was still at-work with her school duties. She will be missed by so many educator friends . . . and there will be no way to measure the good she provided for each student under her charge. Rest in Peace, sweet Robin.

I was so sad to hear of Robin's passing. I worked for her in Humble and Nederland as a consultant. She was always dedicated to doing the right thing and would stick to her guns! She became a dear friend over our long morning drives. We would visit and solve the world's problems, well maybe just mine! Her last text to me was "I will miss our morning talks". Dr Perez will forever have a special place in my heart. She was a wonderful person to work with as a parent and as an employee. She had a way of working with students that gained their respect and cooperation. She always out the welfare of the students first, I called her the Energizer bunny because she never slowed down.
