Edgar “Big M” Maddox

January 15, 1944 - September 19, 2019

Edgar “Big M” Maddox, 75, of Nederland, died Thursday, September 19, 2019. He was born on January 15, 1944, in Beaumont, to Florene Courts Maddox and Jake Maddox.

Edgar was a United States Army veteran and worked for Huntsman C-4 plant for 38 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, his cars, and Nederland football. Edgar always made sure his family had everything they needed. He loved Cajun music and dancing with his wife, Carolyn, at The Rodair Club. Edgar loved Blue Bell ice cream. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Polly Reddin and her husband, Glenn, of Santa Fe; Tiffany Darbonne and her husband, Neal, of Nederland; and Carol Ann Beard, of Nederland; sons, Edgar Maddox, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Nederland; and Tracy Maddox, of Nederland; grandchildren, Brandi Reddin; Jake, Jordan, and Jonathan Maddox; Payton and Morgan Barbay; Britton and Hadley Beard; and Riley and Elijah Maddox; and great-grandson, Graham Reddin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Florene and Jake Maddox; wife, Carolyn Maddox; son, Jerry Allen Maddox; brother, John Maddox; sister, Johnnie Maddox; and granddaughter, Sunni Maddox.

A gathering of Mr. Maddox’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.

I grew up with Edgar in the 50's. Those were the days . Those memories will always remain with me. Edgar's family I'm sorry for your loss. Due to health problems I'm not going to be able to attend the service .
