Edward J. Royer

Edward John Royer, 93, of Beaumont, Texas died peacefully in his sleep at home, Tuesday, August 25, 2020. He was born on July 18, 1927, in The Village of Aurora, Minnesota, to Frank and Frances Kastelic Royer.

After graduating high school, Ed came to Beaumont, Texas and lived with his brother, Sylvester. He enlisted in the United States Army in July 1945. After the war, he worked as a pipefitter for Pure Oil Company for several years before starting his own company, Ed Royer Homebuilders. He built many of the homes in the Westgate and Dowlen West Subdivisions in his twenty-five plus years of homebuilding.

Ed was an avid outdoorsman who loved duck hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. He loved animals and enjoyed tending to his cattle at his ranch near Woodville, Texas. He was a devoted family man, had a great work ethic and never remained idle for long. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances Kastelic Royer; son, Edward John Royer, II; brothers, Frank, Sylvester, Anthony, Joseph, Stanley, John, and Rudolph.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Patricia Ann Pennington Royer; sons, David E. Royer and his wife, Thao, and Gregory B. Royer; daughters, Cynthia D. Royer, Rebecca R. Royer, Donna M. Mullenax and her husband, Don; and Karen A. Garner and her husband, Curt; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Family Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Royer will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Jasper, with Very Reverend Ronald B. Foshage as celebrant. A family Rosary will be recited prior to Mass. His interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Community Cemetery, Woodville, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
