Elaine Forsvall Verret

March 3, 1931 - January 16, 2021

Elaine Forsvall Verret formerly of Beaumont, Texas, lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on January 16, 2021 in Houston, Texas. She was born March 3, 1931 in Georgetown, Texas to Clarence and Bertha Forsvall.

Elaine was born and raised in Georgetown, Texas into a Swedish family. She enjoyed walking home from school daily for lunch, going to the soda shop with her family and visiting with the boarders that lived with her family. She was the FFA Sweetheart and active in St. John’s Methodist Church.

She met her husband of 41 years on a blind date in April 1955. Jerry asked her to marry him and move to Phoenix after the second date. She laughed and always said he would have “run for the hills” if she had said yes. After not seeing each other for 4 months, he officially proposed and they were married on December 18, 1955.

Elaine’s greatest love besides her husband were her three daughters and nine grandchildren. She loved being a full time homemaker, mother and Mommou. She was always available for her daughters for a laugh, advise, glass of wine, a long phone call, or a quick trip to the casino.

Once they settled in Beaumont, she became very active in the community and volunteer life. During the school/work day she was busy volunteering her time with St Jude Catholic Church, Beaumont Symphony, March of Dimes and other worthy causes. Elaine and Jerry were founding members of St Jude Catholic Church in Beaumont and you could always find them in the same seats at 5:30 mass on Saturdays afternoons. She made many lifelong friends as they moved frequently for Jerry’s job. Once settling in Beaumont there were even more close friends who became more like family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Verret; sister, Doris Forsvall Johnapelus and brother, Clarence Nathaniel “Sonny” Forsvall. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Verret Hoxworth and her husband, Steve, of Crescent City, Florida; Michele Verret Vacca of Missouri City; and Suzanne Verret Gaw and her husband, Tom, of Plano; as well as her grandchildren, Christopher Freeland, Taylor Elaine Hutchinson, Aaron Freeland, Michael LoSasso, Nicholas LoSasso, Elaine Gaw, Oliver (Allison) Gaw, Ethan Vacca, Cecilia Nicole Vacca; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

I am saddened to hear about Elaine’s passing. I went to 5:30 mass for years with your parents and always spoke to them in passing. She attended an ACTS retreat and I had the pleasure of sharing the weekend with her. She was a very faith filled lady and spoke lovingly of her family. We all enjoyed her insight, wisdom, and knowledge on this faith journey. Prayers of peace and comfort for your family.

What a sweet lady, a fantastic addition to our West End Beaumont neighborhood, especially since Mrs. Verret brought with her a gang of beautiful daughters. Our prayers are with your, Cathy and Family.
