Elma Gibson

February 6, 1925 - August 30, 2018

Elma W. Gibson, 93, of Beaumont, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at The Oaks at Beaumont. She was born February 6, 1925, in Lufkin, to Birtus Belinda Beathert and Joseph Walker.

She enjoyed family gatherings and picnics and will be remembered for always having a good time and for her famous expression, “shake it don’t break it”.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Cole; sister, Wanda Ragsdale, both of Beaumont; grandchildren, Sherry Sterling and her husband, Kenny; Christy Morrell and her husband, Leon; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Sterling, Emma Morrell, and Colton Morrell; and numerous nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bill Betlan; grandson, Jerry Cole; and siblings, Gerald Walker; George Walker; Joseph Walker, Jr.; Willie Hambrick; Nell Haygood; Verna Faye Walker; Leona Green; Oma Bonner, and Ossie Boyd.

A gathering of Mrs. Gibson’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
