Elton Gerald Gaskey
Elton Gerald Gaskey, 86, of Silsbee, died on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born May 15, 1934, in Orangefield, Texas, to Elnora Roebuck and EG Gaskey. Elton served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a material expeditor for Sun Oil after twenty-five years of service.
He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason of Anahuac Lodge #995, A.F. & A.M. Elton enjoyed collecting coins and stamps along with gardening. After retiring from Sun Oil, he went to work for Transamerican in Laredo, Texas. He also worked for the Laredo Webb County and Laredo Regional Food Bank for twelve years and was recognized for helping make the food bank successful. Elton will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandpa.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Sharon K. Gaskey; sons, Cline Gaskey of San Antonio, Texas and Thomas Hogan, Jr. of Silsbee, Texas; daughters, Deborah Starkey and her husband, Steve, of Vista, California; Sharel Bratcher and her husband, Tyler, of Denton, Texas; Megan Whitehead and her husband, Michael, of Silsbee, Texas; grandchildren; Greg, Geoff, Grant, Brad, Nathan, Alasen, Micah, Malachi, Molly, Matthew, A.J., Zoe, and Aurora; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Lowrie and Pat Walton, both of Sour Lake, Texas; brother, Steve Gaskey of Nacogdoches, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Elton is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Donald and Billy Gaskey.
A gathering of Elton’s family and friends will begin at 10:30 a.m. with his funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, Texas. His burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Bland Cemetery, 11535 I-10, Orange, Texas.

I'm one of Elton's cousins on the Roebuck side of the family. My Daddy was Aunt Elnora's brother, Josh Roebuck.. We're sad to hear of Elton's passing. My prayers have and will continue for you all. I have so many memories of all of you. I hold so many in my heart as little treasures that cheer the soul. I remember introducing Elton to Sharon and Sharon introducing me to my husband. The card games we played as a couple. One of my favorites was when we showed up to. Sing Christmas songs to your house; Tito, David and me. Y’all were all surprised! All the times we would talk with him. He was so intelligent and interesting.. So many stories. My heart hurts, he was my friend, now he’s forever home. I will miss all his posts on Facebook. That felt like still keeping in touch even if we didn’t get to visit. Love, prayers and miss you.
