Esperanza Salazar Padierna, 82, of Winnie, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was born on April 9, 1935, in Beaumont, to Catarina Mendiola Rivera and Jose Rivera.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-seven years, Silvestre Padierna; children, Joe Salazar, Jr. and his wife, Yolanda, of Port Arthur; Robert Salazar and his wife, Irma, of Beaumont; Anthony Salazar and his wife, Lisa, of Lumberton; Roy Padilla of Vidor; Richard Salazar and his wife, Lisa, of Tennessee; Anna Varela and her husband, Richard, of Nederland; Mary Catherine “Cathy” Garcia and her husband, Pilo, of Beaumont; Eva Salazar of Sour Lake; Jesse Salazar and his wife, Melissa, of Vidor, Debbie Flores and her husband, Jose, of Beaumont; Rebecca Dunigan and her husband, Brian, of Beaumont; Elisa “Lollie” Rodriguez and her husband, Ezequiel, of Beaumont; and Juan “John” Salazar of Groves; thirty grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Joe Rivera, Jr. of Beaumont, Beatrice Degollado of Houston, Minnie DelaRosa of Groves, Alice Rivera, and Martha Flores of Beaumont; and uncle, Domingo Mireles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joe Salazar, Sr.; siblings, Santos Guerrero Baldomero Rivera, Sylvester Rivera, Gloria Marie Carlin, Caroline Padilla, and Gilbert Rivera; and great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Palermo.
A gathering of Mrs. Padierna’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2018, at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3648 Sgt. Lucien Adams Boulevard, Port Arthur, with her interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, and Heart Of Texas Hospice for all the care that was given to our mother.

To the family I'm so sorry for your loss, Esperanza was known for helping so many families. My mom would always remind us how Esperanza would help watch us and take my mom to doctors.
