Eugene Hoiby

Eugene J. “Gene” Hoiby, 89, of Beaumont, died Friday, February 23, 2018. He was born on November 10, 1928, in Beaumont, to Pauline Marie Courrege Hoiby and James Julius Hoiby, and was a United States Army veteran, where he was a Counter Intelligence Agent.

Gene attended St. Anne’s grade school and St. Anthony High School, both in Beaumont, where he graduated in 1946. He went on to St. Edward’s University in Austin, completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce in 1951.Between 1953 until his retirement in1995, Gene worked in industrial sales for three different companies in Beaumont. He was an avid quail and dove hunter, and enjoyed fishing and crabbing.

Gene is survived by his extended family.

A funeral mass for Mr. Hoiby will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
