Eva Mosley

Eva Mosley, age 83, met her Savior face to face for the first time on December 29, 2020. Although a day of sadness and mourning for those who love her, what a moment of joy, healing, reunion, and rejoicing for Eva; a devoted and loving wife; mother; sister; grandmother; great-grandmother; and friend.

Eva was born on January 13, 1937 in Gary, Texas to Georgia and John Windham. Eva graduated from Nederland High School after moving to Nederland, Texas in 1945. She attended Chenier Business School until 1956 and after a steady pursuit, married a country boy from Gary, Texas, James Mosley Sr., on May 25, 1957. Eva and James raised two children; Vicki Tarnow married to Jon Tarnow and James Mosley Jr. married to Phyllis Mosley.

Eva was an active member at First Baptist Church Nederland where she attended Bible study and worked in the children’s division. She was formerly employed with the Law Firm of King, Sharfstein, and Reinstra and retired as a payroll coordinator for Gulf Consolidated Services. Eva was proud of her work but held the deepest pride for her family. Her grandchildren, Courtney; Micah; Rebecca; and Rachel admired their Grandma. She was a consistent presence; attending sports events, recitals, and Grandparent’s Day at school. She made chocolate chip and “dinosaur” cookies. Eva played board games; quilted; loved Elvis; and enjoyed sharing stories of her family history. She not only prayed for her family but taught them how to pray. It will always be Grandma’s steady faith, sweet and gentle spirit, and constant encouragement that defines her.

Eva is survived by her husband, James, of sixty-three years; brother and spouse, Jerry and Mary Windham; children, Vicki and James and their spouses; grandchildren and their spouses, Courtney and Nathaniel Drake; Micah and Bonnie Mosley; Rebecca and Lincoln Neely; and Rachel and Hunter Houston; and great-grandchildren, Kenedy McClusky; Gracie Drake; Macy Mosley; Riley Mosley; Thaniel Drake; Evalynne Drake; Rhett Houston; and Baby Drake.

Eva left a legacy. Her family knows the love of Jesus more because of the love of their mom and grandmother. Her family knows commitment and unconditional love because of the love between Eva and James. They know kindness and a servant’s heart because of the actions of Eva. They know the power of prayer because of her example. Her family knows her Savior because Eva knew Him well.

A gathering of Mrs. Mosley’s family and friends will be 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2021, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
