Faye Annette Prater

October 3, 1947 - November 1, 2017

Faye Annette Prater was born October 3, 1947, in Bonham, Texas, and died November 1, 2017, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. She was a graduate of Jasper High School and completed her education at Lamar University with a certification as a Respiratory Therapist. She worked at various hospitals in the South East Texas area.

Ms. Prater was preceded in death by her birth parents; her adopted mother, Nellie Mauvaline Prater; adopted dad, John Earl Prater, who was a Church of Christ Preacher, and Bonnie Lee Prater, who she called Mother; half brother and sister, Jack Land and Paulette L. Self of Cooper, Texas; adopted sister, Bettye Jean Edwards of San Antonio and nephew David; and sister by desire Delores Griffith of Kerrville.

She is survived by nieces, Renate Edwards and Gina Gipson of San Antonio; sister by desire, Carroll Waldron of Kerrville; nephews Phil and Johnny Waldron, Dan Griffith, Jr., and others; friends and caregivers Cheryl Cash, Ronda Ellis and Anita Durham.

Special thanks to her primary care physician and friend Dr. Felix Russell Stovall and wife, Jerri; friend and former primary Dr. Erlinda Tan and husband, Buddy Falkner, of Alexandria, Louisiana; and Keith Herrin, Minister of Impact Church.

Services will be at Broussard’s on McFaddin at 10 a.m. Friday, November 6, Douglas Cash, Minister, and a graveside in Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper at 3 p.m., Gene Ricks or son, Aaron Ricks, Ministers.
