Joseph Gabriel “Gabe” Picou, 78, of Labelle, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019. He was born on July 21, 1940, in Port Arthur, to Adelaide Carrier Picou and Talton Picou.

Gabe was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed carpentry and gardening and was an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Picou of Nederland; daughter, Cheryl Richardson and her husband, Tom, of Fannett; son, Randy Picou and his wife, Antoinette; step-son, Michael Perry and his wife, Cheryl, of Virginia; grandchildren, Brandy Watts and her husband, Josh; Jordan Perry; Justin Perry; Ginna Perry; Alexander Richardson; Santino Picou; and Dominick Picou; twin great-grandchildren, Tucker Watts and Courtney Watts; brothers, Victor Picou; Steve Picou and his wife, Ann; Paul Picou and his wife, Donna; Tony Picou; Tommy Picou and his wife, Jan; and Jimmy Picou; and sisters, Margie Carter; Lee Bertrand; Florence Ann Hubbard and her husband, Ira; and Alicia Harvey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence Picou, Ray Picou, and Donald Picou; and sisters, Theresa Devillier and Essie Hidalgo.

A gathering of Mr. Picou’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by his Rosary at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Picou’s memory to American Cancer Society, #4 Bayou Brandt, Suite B, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

You are all in my prayers cousins, aunts, and uncles. Uncle Gabe will be missed. He always had a funny story to tell and he called daddy Ray "Coon" and he called me "Coonette", affectionately of course. I'm sorry for your loss and I love you all.
