The many times that Eric, Mike Graham, Joe Blanchard and I would wind up at Gaylyn’s (Dad’s) house after being out all night. He worked a lot of shift work and would sometimes be there, sitting and watching tv. No matter the time or the situation, he would always take a moment and ask how things were, what had I been up to, or just make polite conversation. As a kid, usually coming in from doing some manner of something I shouldn’t have been doing, it always struck me as special that he would care enough to ask and never judge...no matter how ridiculous my answer would be. He was always nice and even though we never really gave him reason to have to come and save us from one of our misadventures, I have no doubt that he would have done so without judgement and would never have held it against any of us boys. I love and will miss him, even though I haven’t seen him in years. Thank you Dad for always being there in your own way. God bless you and may you sleep forever in the arms of angels.
