Gelacio Martinez

Gelacio M. Martinez, 60, of Winnie, died Saturday, February 22, 2020 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. He was born on November 21, 1959 to Alberta Morales Martinez and Catalino Martinez in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Claudia Martinez; and children, Laura Cardenas and her husband, Juan and Melissa Olvera and her husband, Sergio, all of Winnie; grandchildren, Gabriel Cardenas, Julian Olvera, and Mila Olvera; brothers, Constancio Martinez, of San Perlita, Texas; Marcial Martinez and Eduardo Morales, both of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; Ismael Martinez, of Winnie; and Maurilio Martinez, of Fannett; sisters, Alejandra Morales and Antonia Martinez, both of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Simon Martinez; in-laws, Vincete Uribe and Donaciana Peralta.

A gathering of Mr. Martinez’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2020, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Winnie followed by his interment at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
