Gene Shaw
Gene Shaw, 85, of Nederland, died Saturday, March 3, 2018. He was born on January 26, 1933, in Port Arthur, Texas to Lois Mae Biermortt Shaw and Valdie Clinton Shaw.
Gene graduated from Nederland High School and later from Lamar University. He served in the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank as Captain. Gene retired from DuPont after thirty-three years of service. He was involved in A.C.T.S. and in the Knights of Columbus. Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Gail Gesser Shaw; children, Mike Shaw and his wife, Glenda, of Vidor; Erik Shaw and his wife, Stacie, of Nederland; and Lori Shaw of Nederland; grandchildren, Michael, Morgan, and Mackenzie Shaw, all of Nederland and Jessica Marcantel and her husband, Justin, of Vidor; two great-grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of Mr. Shaw’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with his entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Shaw’s memory to St. Charles Catholic Church Remodeling Program, 130 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627, or Knights of Columbus, 315 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627.

I worked with Gene for many years and I must say he was as good a man as you can find on earth. Always joking and a big smile. On the serious side he had a lot of compassion for his fellow workers.
