George Lawrence Audilet
George Lawrence Audilet, 79, passed over Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born December 23, 1941, in Beaumont, to Ottie Craig Audilet and Jack E. Audilet. He attended Amelia School and graduated from South Park High School.
George went to work for the Beaumont Police Department at the age of 21, working there until his retirement. After retiring, he became a cattle rancher.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cole Audilet; parents, Ottie and Jack; sister, Betty Jean Verano; brother, Jimmy Audilet; nephew, Jimmy Audilet, Jr.; nieces, Cheryl Audilet and Shawna Myers Rosco; and longtime best friend and ranch hand, Kirby Vincent.
Survivors include his brothers, Raymond Audilet and his wife, Jo and Clifton Audilet and his wife, Gearldine; sister, JoAnn Audilet Mendoza; stepson, George Cole and his wife, Linda; step grandchildren, Rodney Cole, Cory Cole, and Crystal Wortham and their respected spouses; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A gathering of Mr. Audilet’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at China Cemetery, China.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123, in his wife’s name, Betty Cole Audilet.

George was one of the best men I ever met and an integral part of my childhood. He and my father worked together for many years at BPD and they would take me rabbit hunting when I was a young boy. Later in life my grandparents bought a place in Warren and George shared everything he knew about raising cattle with them and was always willing to help in any way he could. George was a fantastic role model who lead an exemplary life and he will be missed dearly. My condolences go out to the family. Rest In Peace my friend!!

George has been a friend since I met him in 1969. I will miss our conversations we had at least once a month for years. George was a "straight shooter" and it was pretty much evident where he stood on any issue. You could always depend on George to help if you needed it. I truly loved him and Betty. I already miss him so much.. EVERYBODY loved George.. He was definitely one of the best...

George and I became good friends at South Park High. He was President of our FFA chapter. He was raised by a good hard working Mother and Father. I loved going out to their home and eating at the big table. George was one of the truly good ole "Cowboys ". John Wayne type of guy. Rest in Peace my Friend.

Worked many years with George. A great police officer and a better man. Two things about George stand out in my memory. When he was transferred to narcotics many years ago, I asked him if he was going to grow a beard and long hair, and he laughed and said “if I’m feeling sporty I might pull my shirt tail out”. And anyone who worked much with George will remember that big deck of 3x5 notecards he always carried. If you were trying to remember a license number or an address or any detail from a previous surveillance or case, he rifle through his cards and more likely than not, he’d have what you were looking for.
