Gilford John Baker

October 12, 1928 - August 4, 2019

Gilford John Baker, 90, of Sour Lake, died Sunday, August 4, 2019, at Village Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation, Lumberton. He was born on October 12, 1928, to Evina Simoneaux Baker and John Baker, in Beaumont, and was United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

Gilford was owner and auctioneer at Baker’s Auction. He enjoyed singing country western music.

Survivors include his daughter, Marcia Baker Brown and her husband, Robert, of San Antonio; son, Randy Baker of Sour Lake; daughter, Donna Justice Galloway and her husband, Kenneth, of Beaumont; sisters, Rose Crenshaw and her husband, Cleo, of Beaumont and Helen Sibert and her husband, Rex, of Independence, Missouri; brother, Tom Baker and his wife, Brenda, of Beaumont; grandchildren, April Justice; Brandon Baker; Adam Justice and his wife, Christina; and Joshua Odom and his wife, Shelby; two great-grandchildren, Eleanor Justice and Daniel Moore-Odom.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Baker; parents; sister, Gussie Robins; and brothers, Allen Baker and Joseph Baker.

A gathering of Mr. Baker’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
