H.L. “Scrap” Krebs

Harold Lynwood “Scrap” Krebs, 87, of Hamshire died January 14, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 28, 1930 in Barbers Hill, Texas, to Mary Elizabeth Burlin Krebs and Carl Krebs, and was a lifelong resident of Hamshire. In 1950, he married Monte Lee Crawford, of Beaumont, and they had two daughters.

Scrap loved life and lived it to the fullest. He adored his family. He was a patient, honest, loyal, hardworking and loving man…a man of his word. He was well known for telling it like it is. He would do anything he could to help anyone and he never met a stranger. He was also known to have Scrapperized a few people.

He is a retired building contractor in our area, both commercial & residential, and was a master at his trade.

Scrap is survived by daughters, Carla Woodyard and her husband, Matt; and Kathy Chesson, and her husband, Ray, all of Hamshire. Grandchildren, Jarett Thibodeaux, Jacy Thibodeaux, Shane Chesson, and Justin Chesson; and four great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and great-grandson, Trevor Lee Chesson, of Hamshire.

A gathering of Mr. Kreb’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Hamshire, 25304 SH 124, Hamshire. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Hamshire, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hamshire Fire Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 153, Hamshire, TX 77622; or to the Trevor Lee Chesson Memorial Marsh Fest, PO Box 1715, Winnie, TX 77665, which will go to area scholarships and high school fishing teams. Marsh Fest will be held annually the first weekend in March.
