Jake Daleo, Jr.

November 21, 1933 - March 31, 2019

A gentle and loving man has passed. It brings us joy to know that Jake Frank Daleo, Jr., is being welcomed into the gates of Heaven by the love of his life, Mary Ann, and his grandson James and those he loved who have passed before him.

He was a true and devout Catholic of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Beaumont Texas, of which he was a founding member. His humble devotion to the Lord was a blessing to his children and family. Jake graduated from St. Anthony’s High School and attended Lamar College, and was married to his high school sweetheart for 59 years. He was also a United States Army veteran.

He came from a long line of entrepreneurs and worked in his family business, going on to own and operate Jake’s Cut Rate and Dickie’s Liquor.  For the next thirty-five years he was employed and worked side by side with his son, Scooter, at Scooter’s Lawnmower Shop. He was known by many as “PaPa Jake” and was loved by all who knew him.

Throughout his life he loved to fish, play poker and cards, shooting, bowling, watching westerns and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. His most cherished moments were spending family time enjoying good food and each other.

He was a loving son, husband, dad and papa. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Daleo and grandson James Foreman.

Jake is survived by his son, Jake Frank Daleo, III (Scooter) and wife Melanie; daughters, Kathy Daleo, Anne Anderson and her husband Joe, and Dianna Coe and her husband Allen; brother, Michael Daleo and his wife Cathy; sisters, Nannette Wasaff and Rosalie Daleo; grandchildren, Madison and Joey Stelly, Laura, Kelly and Joey Anderson, Anthony and Devin Coe.

A gathering of Mr. Daleo’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2019 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
