James Edward Brown
James Edward Brown, 78, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, died Saturday, May 9, 2020. He was born on March 11, 1942, in Russellville, Alabama, to Marcille Johnson Brown and Angelo Brown.
James graduated high school in La Marque. After graduation he joined the Navy Reserve where he served from 1961 to 1962. After an honorable discharge from the Navy Reserves, he enlisted with the United States Army where he completed basic and paratrooper training. He served from 1962 until 1965 when he was honorably discharged. In the mid 1970s he moved to Tennessee where he went to work for the National Park Service, working from 1978 to 1996. He retired from the Park Service with twenty-one total years of Government Service. After retiring from the Park Service, he went on to give seventeen years of civil service with Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. He would like to be remembered for his charitable work with the Masonic Lodge and the love he had for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Ruth Barrow Brown; son, William (Nicole) Brown; daughter-in-law, Jillian Lee Taylor; brothers, Cecil and Franklin Brown; sister, Patricia Cooley; and grandchildren, William Edward Brown, Jr.; Emily Ann Brown; Walker Ray Brown; and Maison Ryder Brown.
A graveside service for Mr. Brown will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2020, at High Island Cemetery, High Island, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Please observe social distancing guidelines.
