James Capo, Jr.

June 14, 1961 - June 16, 2018

James Samuel Capo Jr “Jim or Jimmy”, 57 of Nederland, passed away June 16th, 2018.

He was born June 14th, 1961, in Beaumont, to James Samuel Capo Sr and Patricia “Patsy” (Collins) Capo. Grandparents Sam and Lillian (Fertitta) Capo, and Frank and Beatrice (Barras) Collins.

Jimmy was the 1st born male in an Italian, Catholic family with an enormous number of relatives in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area. His grandfather, Sam, was responsible for teaching him how to drive at a much too early age and grandmother, Lillian, who wore the color off her rosary beads praying for him & dearly loved cooking for him. For some reason he never gave Grandma Bea any trouble. She laid the rules down early on. Jimmy attended Forest Park High School in Beaumont & was a talented trumpet player. His love of cars kept him busy taking apart & rebuilding them in Dad’s clean garage! He was an avid Nascar and pro football fan. Jimmy had a passion for food and did an incredible job duplicating the family rice balls, spaghetti and meatballs and spiedinis. He really enjoyed the variety of cooking tips and recipes from the Maceo girls & was proud of his Italian heritage. He worked for J.A.M. Distributing in Houston as an equipment salesman and spent a lot of time traveling. You’ve probably talked to him on the phone during one of his long drives. Jimmy had his father’s outgoing, “never meet a stranger” personality. He was a big supporter of Duck’s Unlimited for many years. He had a big heart, a sweet smile & enjoyed spending time with family & friends. He will be missed by many.

Jimmy is survived by his son, James Collin Capo, & his mother, Angie Capo. Additional survivors include mother, Patsy Capo; brother, Ed Capo; sister, Elizabeth (Capo) Kutchback & husband, Jim, along with 3 nephews, Sam Capo, Wes Capo & Jacob Kutchback.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Capo may be made to Some Other Place, 590 Center St, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

A gathering of Mr. Capo’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21st, 2018, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
