James Carter Bolton

James Carter Bolton, 84, of Port Arthur, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017. He was born on September 15, 1932, in Orange, to Gracie Naomi Mummey Bolton and Otis Fee Bolton.

After receiving his college degree at Lamar State College Beaumont, James began his teaching and coaching career for the next eleven years. He then changed careers and began his work as a pharmaceutical representative for the next twenty-five years. James was an avid golfer and loved to watch Lamar football. He was a dedicated Lamar Alum.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Spencer Bolton of Port Arthur; daughters, Jean Marie Skarke and her husband, Bob, of League City and Diana LaBorde and her husband, Shaun, of Nederland; stepdaughters, Debbie Whitfill and her husband, Gary, of Port Arthur and Cheryl Fuller and her husband, Phillip, of Kemah; sons, James Carter “Butch” Bolton, Jr. of New Mexico and Clifton Kent Bolton and his wife, Dena, of Houston; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Bolton Coburn and Clara Adams; and brothers, Douglas “Buddy” Chamberlain and David Bolton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ann Broussard Bolton; parents; and siblings, Clyde Bolton, Erna Sappington, Huey Bolton, Pat Miguez, Mary Lou Bolton, Lynn Rogers, William Mullins, and Thomas Gerald Bolton.

A gathering of Mr. Bolton’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil to follow at 1:30 p.m., and his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
