James Kuykendall
James E. Kuykendall, 80, of Nederland, died Sunday, November 17, 2019, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. He was born March 18, 1939, in Grand Saline, to Della Mae Kuykendall and Daryl Milton Kuykendall.
James was a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland. He enjoyed watching football and basketball as well as coaching both sports. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored greatly, as well as, traveling and visiting the lake cabin.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kuykendall, of Nederland; sons, James Derrell Kuykendall and his wife, Janice, of Vidor; James Lloyd Fontenot and his wife, Faye, of Houston; and Randy Lee Fontenot and his wife, Angie, of Deweyville; daughter, Michelle Williams and her husband, Michael, of Crosby; grandchildren, Lauren; Alexis; Sheryl; Mari; Kara; Kim; Whitney; Ashley; and Tristan; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Kuykendall, of Houston; and brother-in-law, O.H. Pullin, Jr., of Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Della Mae and Darrell Kuykendall; and granddaughter, Katrina Fontenot.
A gathering of Mr. Kuykendall’s family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Broussard’s, followed by his interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
