James Martin

James Russell Martin, 59, of Houston, died Friday, January 1, 2021. He was born on October 7, 1961 to Linda Richardson and James Patrick Martin in Beaumont.

Survivors include his parents, Pat and Linda Martin, in Beaumont; daughter, Mary Frances Vermillion and her husband, Ken, in Colorado; son, Kelby Martin, of Kerrville; daughter, Katherine Curry and her wife, Megan, of Dallas; partner, Melinda Hughes, of Houston; and sister, Jennifer Martin, of Houston.

A graveside service for Mr. Martin will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2020 at Antioch Cemetery, Buna, Texas under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southwestern University Baseball Program, P.O. Box 770 Georgetown, Texas 78627-0770 or the Houston Food Bank, 535 Portwall Street, Houston, Texas 77029.

    Prayers and comfort to Family and Friends, I played ball against Russell back in High School , and played with him on several summer league teams. What a truly nice guy and a great competitor. He will be missed

    Linda and Pat, I am so saddened to learn oh Russell’s death. He was such a friendly youngster on our street....so good looking and funloving!. Just know I am thinking of you all! I send my love. I know your hearts are breaking.

    The world is a bit dimmer with the loss of Russ’ light. I will always remember him fondly for the care and thoughtfulness he showed to all. My prayers are with his family and his many friends .

    Russell was best man at my wedding, 1989. We knew each other from the KA House at Southwestern. He could really light up a room. May the family find peace and strength in their memories.
