James Scott Keys, 51, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 14, 2017, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on November 24, 1965, in Port Arthur, to Carol Ann Thompson and Vernon Wyatt Keys. James retired as a C.A.D. Operator.

Survivors inclued his mother; Carol Conner and her husband, Ronald J.; of Buna; father, Vernon Keys of Sulphur, Louisiana; significant other, Richard Wright; aunts, Evelyn Hampton-Webb and her husband, Don, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Joan Thompson and Arlene Ware; uncle, Malvin Keys; stepsisters, Valarie Matkin and her husband, Kyle, of Cypress Springs; Monica Cuccia and her husband, Carey, of Groves; and Christina Basham and her husband, Terry, of Baytown; cousins, Jody Thompson; Madison Thompson; McKinsey Thompson; and Jonathan Shuler; nephews, Conner Cuccia, Colin Matkin, and Gabriel and Michael Basham; niece, Phoebe Matkin, and Sierra and Abby Bacham; and grandmother, Lillian Roy of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

James is preceded in death by his Uncle John Thomas Thompson; grandfather, James Glancer Thompson; and cousin, Dian Johnson.

A private family committal for Mr. Keys will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

James was a very sweet kind person. He was my nephew and I will always sparkle in his smile. God bless his soul. Aunt Arlene. Keys Ware Howard and I wish to offer god's peace to all who loved James, Howard is James' cousin (on his father's side). He was a special person and struggled so many years with his health.
