James Walters

February 7, 1954 - March 26, 2018

James Ronnie Walters, “The Transmission Man in China, Texas”, went home to Jesus surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 26, 2018. He was 64 years old.

Born in Elton, Louisiana, and longtime resident of China, Texas, since 1973. He was co-owner of J&M Standard Transmission along with his wife for thirty years.

James is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Mary Walters, of China; daughter, Rebecca Walters Williams and her husband, Travis; and grandson, Westen Williams, all of Beaumont; sisters, Doris Murray and Alice Daniels, of Beaumont, and Ruth Hinton, of South Carolina; brothers, John “Butch” Walters, of China and Joe Walters, of Beaumont.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Leo Walters; and brother, William “Bill” Walters.

A gathering of Mr. Walters’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 Highway 90 West, China, with his interment to follow at China Cemetery.
