Jay Phillip Bishop, Jr.

December 9, 1946 - March 12, 2017

Jay Phillip Bishop, Jr., 70, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 12, 2017. He was born on December 9, 1946, in Decatur, Georgia, to Helen Evelyn Barnes Bishop and Jay Phillip Bishop, Sr. Jay was fascinated by Scottish history and culture, going so far as to own a kilt. He loved Texas A&M, where he went to school for four years. Jay was also a Deadhead, being a huge fan of the Grateful Dead.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Ann Slovak Bishop; his children, Jenny Dorsett and her husband, Wayne; Amy Ochoa and her husband, Ruben; and James Bishop; step-son, Dustin Koch; sisters-in law, Georgia Perrett, and Joan Troutman and her husband, Howard; eight grandchildren; numerous close friends and co-workers; and his dogs, Bonney and Bunko. Jay is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Bishop’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A private family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
