Jerry Wayne Atkinson

June 14, 1973 - January 23, 2021

Jerry Wayne Atkinson, 47, of Silsbee, died Saturday, January 23, 2021. He was born June 14, 1973, in Houston, to Mary Nell Brown and Charley Atkinson, Sr.

He has been a long-term resident of Silsbee. Jerry worked construction most of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jerry also enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Weekends were spent gathered with his loved ones grilling, playing poker; and sitting around a warm fire. Sundays were for watching football. He also loved dancing and listening to music.

Survivors include his wife of sixteen years, Shelly Wright; son, Nathan Atkinson of Silsbee; daughter, Kayla Hutto and her husband, Jonathan of Kountze; stepson, Dustin Wright and Austin Wright, both of Lumberton; granddaughter, Alyssa Mitchell of Kountze; brothers, Charley Atkinson II and his wife, Beatrice of Silsbee; Kenneth Atkinson of Oak Grove, Louisiana; sister, Passion Atkinson of Silsbee; eleven nephews and nieces; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Nell and Charley Atkinson; and brother, Darren Atkinson.

A gathering of Mr. Atkinson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Broussard’s with his interment to follow at Knupple Cemetery, Silsbee.
