Jessie Merriman

Jessie Faye Merriman, 75, of Nederland, died Saturday, April 20, 2019. She was born July 7, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Ruthie Gertrude Mosley Polk and James Luther Polk.

She was a den mother with the Boy Scouts of America for several years and she really enjoyed traveling. Most of all, she loved her family dearly.

Survivors include her son, Shane Merriman and his wife, Pam; daughter, Elda Merriman and her husband, Anthony Nomura II, all of Nederland; grandchildren, Zachary Merriman; Anthony Nomura III; LeLani Nomura and her husband, Jonathan Whitt; Paul Casey Pelton; and Amanda Murray; great-grandchildren, Olita Nomura; Hayden Whitt; Conner Blaine Pelton; and Miranda McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; son, Luther Merriman; brother, Jerry Lee Polk; sister, Patricia Desormeaux; granddaughter, Natalee Ruth Merriman; and great-grandchildren, Abel Kolten Smith and Gwen Marie Bonsall.

A gathering of Mrs. Merriman’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at Broussard’s, followed by her interment at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
