Jo Ellen Skiles

June 4, 1932 - May 2, 2017

Jo Ellen Skiles, 84, of Nederland, Texas, entered her heavenly home on May 2, 2017.  She was born on June 4, 1932 to W. O. and Jimmie Sanderson.  Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Skiles, and her son, Harold Skiles.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Martin, and her husband John of Orange; daughter-in-law, Sarah Skiles of Fort Worth; four grandsons, Jeremy Martin and wife, Leigh, of Orange, Jacob Martin and wife, Brooke, of Mauriceville, and Joseph Skiles and Duncan Skiles of Fort Worth.  She is survived by five great-grandchildren, Brice Martin, James Martin, Mason Martin, Natalie Martin and Maddox Martin.

Jo is survived by her siblings, W. E. “Smokey” Sanderson and wife, Barbara, Vivian Sturrock and husband Bill, Glenn Sanderson and wife, Pat, Gary Sanderson and wife, Rhonda, and Bob Sanderson and wife, Wanda. 

Jo was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Nederland, where she enjoyed participating in the Silvertones Choir and loved taking festival choir trips. 

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Holland Place, Forever Young, and New Century Hospice.

A gathering of Mrs. Skiles’ family and friends will begin 9:30 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall, followed by a celebration of life service in the sanctuary at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017, at First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
