John Allen Hays, Jr.

February 20, 1976 - March 8, 2020

John Allen Hays, Jr., 44, of Nederland, died Sunday, March 8, 2020, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. He was born February 20, 1976, in Beaumont, to Vickie Lynn Pickett Hays and John Allen Hays, Sr.

John served twenty-three years with EMS services in Jefferson, Chambers, and Galveston Counties. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Tyler. He was known for being quite the jokester.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Hays; children, James Tyler and Jayla Breann Hays, all of Nederland; father, John Allen Hays, Sr., of Beaumont; brothers, Jeffery Hays and his wife, Christina, of Kirbyville and William Hays, of Nederland; nephew, Jahvon Williams, of Nederland; niece, Kayleigh Hays, of Kirbyville; and aunt and uncle, Jerry and Jodel Pickett.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Lynn Hays; grandparents, Wilma and Doyce Pickett; and grandmother, Katherine Cavanaugh.

A gathering of Mr. Hays’ family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2020, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1315 South 27th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
