Joseph Kennedy, Sr.

November 4, 1928 - January 12, 2018

Joe C. Kennedy, Sr., 89, of Port Neches, died Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born on November 4, 1928, in Port Arthur, to Alma Erickson Kennedy and Joseph Graham Kennedy.

Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved the beach so much, he lived at Crystal Beach for 16 years. Most of all, he loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Mary Kennedy; sons, Joe Kennedy, Jr. and his wife, Sheila, and Dale Kennedy, all of Spring, and Kent Kennedy of Austin; grandchildren, Kevin Kennedy and his wife, Cara, of Spring; Keith Kennedy of Conroe; Toni Knearem and her husband, Clint, of Roswell; and Sasha Kennedy and Jasi Kennedy, both of Austin; six great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Kennedy and his wife, Carol, of Silsbee; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Howard McFadden, A.V. McFadden; and Buddy McFadden.

Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Kennedy’s three son, Joe, Dale, and Kent, may be made to Texas School for the Deaf, 1102 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704.

A gathering of Mr. Kennedy’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with his interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
