Joseph McBroom

February 7, 1934 - January 16, 2018

Joseph “Milton” McBroom, 83, of Beaumont, died January 16, 2018, at Serenity Assisted Living, Beaumont. He was born on February 7, 1934, in Hemphill, to Irene and Carl McBroom. Milton was employed as a machinist in the petroleum production business.

He enjoyed taking his family on camping, fishing and hunting trips and loved his time spent in California sightseeing with his wife, Betty. Some of Milton’s hobbies included gardening, reading a good western novel, cooking and playing with his many dogs through the years. He especially loved spending time with friends over a cup of coffee or a game of dominoes. Milton was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church “Men of Jude” where he liked cooking pancake breakfasts and volunteering at Some Other Place. His happiest moments were when his family and, especially the grandchildren, would gather for a big meal to celebrate birthdays and holidays.

Survivors include his children, Richard McBroom and his wife, Kim Moore; Craig McBroom; David McBroom and his wife, Macy; daughter, Bridgett Hlavinka; grandchildren, Mandy Eynon, Stephanie Pena, Jeremy McBroom, Matthew McBroom, Lauren McBroom, Carsyn Hlavinka, Daniel Crocker, and Devin Crocker; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Ponder, Betty McCullough and her husband, Bob and Helen Heil and her husband, Irvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Milton is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of sixty years, Betty Joyce McBroom.

A gathering of Mr. McBroom’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018, at Broussard’s, with a burial of his cremated body to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
