Josephine Smith Swift, 93, of Crystal Beach, died Thursday, March 12, 2020. She was born on December 2, 1926, to Frances Elizabeth Kahla Smith and William Henry Smith, in Galveston, Texas. 

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Mathis and her husband, Sonny; Debra Altemus and her husband, David; granddaughters, Andrea Smith and her husband, Corey; Amber Blume and her husband, J.B.; grandsons, Robert Van Zandt and his wife, Ashley; Fred L. Swift and his wife, Lauren; great-grandchildren, Kendal Carnley, Cameron Carnley, Zachary Smith, Jonah Smith, Hunter Swift, Nicholas Swift, Kelsey Van Zandt, Isom McKinley, Madden McKinley, Rowan McKinley, Jack Blume, Maddie Blume, and Baby Boy Blume who is on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Isom Lee Swift; brothers, William “Billy” Smith and Vernon “Bub” Smith; and niece, Sandra Milliff.

Josephine was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of Port Bolivar.

A gathering of Mrs. Swift’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at First United Methodist Church, 1708 TX-124, Winnie, with her interment to follow at Port Bolivar Community Cemetery, Port Bolivar. Please join Mrs. Swift’s family for a reception following her interment at Jose’s Mexican Food Restaurant’s back room, 1021 State Highway 87, Crystal Beach.
