Juanita Gautreaux Broussard

October 14, 1925 - July 14, 2020

Juanita Gautreaux Broussard, 94, of Nederland, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born October 14, 1925, in Port Arthur, to Alida Viator Gautreaux and Laurent Gautreaux.

Juanita devoted most of her time to volunteering and helping out in her community. She was a Pink Lady at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Nederland and at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. She also sang in the choir during French Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Port Arthur and was involved in the Altar Society at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Nederland. Juanita was a very talented oil painter. She enjoyed quilting and cooking but most all, she loved her family.

Survivors include her children, Dianna Koumianos and fiance, Allen Manuel, of Sulphur, Louisiana; Catherine Cervantes, of Houston; James Broussard, of Tyler; and Nicole Hebert and her husband, Ken, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Kostas Koumianos; Cory Cervantes; Catera Cervantes; Brandon Broussard; Lindsey Chirafis; Abbey Chirafis; and Ryan Chirafis; and great-grandchildren, Cory Cervantes, Jr.; Cheyenne Cervantes; Anthony Ramirez; and Gabriella Ramirez.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alida and Laurent Gautreaux; husband, Charles Broussard; siblings, Avery Boutte; Noëla Sonnier; Laurent Simon; Adam Gautreaux; Ouida Gautreaux; great-grandchild Coriann Cervantes; and sons-in-law, Bobby Cervantes and Mike Koumianos.

A gathering of Mrs. Broussard’s family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., with special remembrances from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

I remember Juanita well from my days of working at Mid Jeff Hospital. I worked in the lab and got to know all the volunteers well. It was a blast from the past to see the picture of her and other familiar faces in the volunteer picture. Juanita always had a smile and willing hand. Prayers to her family.
