Juanita Guerrero

Juanita Guerrero, 98, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021. She was born on April 26, 1922, to Isabel Rosales Lopez and John Lopez, in Deweyville. The family moved to Beaumont for better job opportunities in 1941. She married “la amor de su vida” in 1952. Juanita was very creative and had a good work ethic. She enjoyed home decorating, floral arranging, watching Telenovelas and playing Skip-Bo, and going dancing with her husband. Juanita was also a devoted church goer.

Survivors include her sisters, Carmen Mooney and her husband, Allen, of Hemphill and Mary N. Lopez of Beaumont; nieces, Bianca L. Torseth of Beaumont and Andrea L. Flores of Durham, North Carolina; nephews, John L. Torseth of Aubrey; great-nephew, David L. Gardener of Durham, North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout Texas and Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Isabel; husband, Lewis Guerrero; and niece, Dora Villareal Torseth and her husband, Ingar Torseth.

Sincere gratitude and appreciation for the excellent care and kindness that Texas Home Health and Hospice provided and to Flint Barboza. A very heartfelt special thanks to her angels: nurses, Courtney Leger, Kayci Grider, Angie Gau, and Kailey White and aids, Susie Lard, Kayla Neff, Ginger Keneson, Tiffany Roff, Kathy Lewis, and Brandi Guidry. Lastly the family wants to give a heartfelt thank you for the love and kindness and care that Magdalena provided for Tia Juanita.

A gathering of Mrs. Guerrero’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle, 400 North Virgen de San Juan Boulevard, San Juan, Texas 78589; or Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

    Madrina, we will miss you with all our hearts. You always carried yourself with such class and poise, and knew how to love others in such a way that it was heartfelt. Give padrino a huge hug from us. Our most heartfelt condolences to Nelly and the rest of the family.
