Katherine Tully Wigington

December 1, 1925 - December 8, 2017

Katherine Tully Wigington, 92, of Bryan, formerly of Beaumont, died Friday, December 8, 2017, at Generations Nursing Home, Bryan. Katherine Lemora Tully was born on Park Street December 1, 1925.

She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1942. In July 1942, Katherine married her high school sweetheart, Sam Wigington. While Sam served in the Army Air Corps, Katherine worked in the Line Tech Supply line for the Civil Service in Florida.

After completing his service, they moved back to Beaumont and lived at 910 Elgie in South Park for fifty-two years.

Katherine worked at the Beaumont Enterprise for thirty-years and retired from the 1st National Bank of Beaumont. Following her retirement, she volunteered for the Beaumont Police Department and tirelessly worked with the South Park Neighborhood Association. In 1998, she received the prestigious Jefferson Award and traveled to Washington D.C. for the national presentation.

Katherine has resided in Bryan, Texas, since 1999.

Survivors include her three children, Sam Wigington and his wife, Jamie; Barbara Kay Elfeldt and her husband, Klaus, of Bryan; and Jerri Lea Wigington Alenik of Cypress; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie Mae Kemp Tully and Louis Marston Tully; sister, Zula Mae Tully Kimbrough; and her husband, Sam Wigington.

A gathering of Mrs. Wigington’s family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2017, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.
