Larita Diane Nabors

September 13, 1953 - December 31, 2020

Rev. Larita Diane Martin Nabors was born on September 13, 1953, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to Leroy and Patricia Martin.  She entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, December 31, 2020.

Affectionately called “my sweetie” by her husband Joel, Larita was the love of his life.  They loved doing life together!

Larita served the Lord in ministry most of her life.  Teaching Sunday School from a young age, playing piano and leading in worship, traveling with a singing group, and ultimately serving with Joel in several capacities at the churches they pastored across three states.  Larita received her ordination as a minister by the General Council of the Assemblies of God in 2012.

Larita loved her family.  She provided for her children in any way she could.  She was the cook, seamstress, tutor and chauffeur for all of their activities.  She loved her grandchildren more than anything!  She was an avid supporter of all of their interests; which are as diverse as volleyball, youth fairs, and beekeeping.  She helped at any time and in any way she could.

Larita loved serving others.  She was always there to help decorate, cook and especially make cake balls.  Her fingerprints and ideas have influenced events and activities for years.

Larita was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Diane Nabors and her parents, Leroy and Patricia Martin.

Larita is survived by her husband of nearly forty-seven years, Rev. Joel A. Nabors; her children and their spouses; Kelly and Daron Shelton and Daniel and Brandy Nabors; five amazing grandchildren, Kennedy Shelton, Brodie Shelton, Allison Nabors, Grant Nabors, and Beau Shelton; her siblings, Wanda Trosclair, Rev. Kevin and Rev. Judy Martin, and Rev. Christine and Rev. Kelly Kimball; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and more friends than can be counted.

A gathering of Larita’s family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Broussard’s, with her interment at 1:00 p.m., at Fairview Cemetery, Lufkin.

Larita was a true friend. She empiomized a lover of God...not a religious bone in her body! She and Pastor Joel were life savers when I attended their church in Lufkin. I am a better Christian because of my friend Larita❤

Bro. Joel, Kelly, Daniel, Bro. Kevin, Christine, I am so very sorry for your loss. I am so very thankful to know Sis. Larita. She helped me stay strong, even on days I didn't have strength. She always told me to keep hanging on, and God would see me through. I learned to be strong from her, and keep my eyes on God, no matter what life dealt me. I pray that God will comfort you, and your family. Sis. Larita, I love you, May you Rest In Peace, and Fly High With the Angels!!
