Laure Law
August 25, 1964 - November 20, 2020
Laure Russell Law, 56, passed away at MD Anderson Hospital on November 20, 2020. She was born to Don Richard Russell & Rose Marie Fitzpatrick Russell on August 25, 1964.
Laure graduated from East Chambers High School in 1982 and pursued a career in cosmetology. She later started working in healthcare where she was planning to retire.
Laure was raised Catholic but after meeting Gregg she converted to the Baptist religion and was an active member in the First Baptist Church of Hamshire for 35 years. She held many roles in the church over the years from cook to Sunday school teacher. Her faith was unwavering and anyone who knew her felt it just being around her. Laure was a mentor to many throughout her church & community. Her bible alone is a representation of the love she had for her church family in which many important dates in the lives of members are recorded.
Laure was a giver and a natural born leader. She always had useful advice that she would openly share whether you wanted to hear it or not. She cared for her family deeply and never put herself first. Her home is the families gathering place and she was always proud and eager to have everyone together. This close knit family took many vacations throughout the years and shared many memories together from the trips she planned. Laure was a great friend to many with a genuine smile that made your day when you saw her.
Laure was always the caregiver for her family, friends and community. She took pride in her job and still made time to have a hot dinner on the stove nightly and have a lunch for Gregg on a “real plate” for work. She took excellent care of both of her parents and other family members in their final or troubling times. Laure volunteered with the Hamshire Volunteer Fire Department, coached & supported many different youth leagues and very rarely missed a game or event that involved her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many others. There were no limitations to the extent she would go to, to be present for her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Gregg Law of Hamshire; daughter, Amy Hamilton and husband Skipper of Stowell; son, Barrett Law and wife Tiffany of Vidor; granddaughter, Journey Hamilton of Stowell; grandsons, Bo Hamilton of Stowell, Hayden, Paxton and Liam Law of Vidor; siblings, Stephanie Devillier of Anderson and David Russell and wife Beth of Mont Belvieu; sister-in-law Barbara Flickinger and husband, Ron of Hamshire and brother-in-law, Randy and wife Charlotte of Hamshire; nieces, Wendi Lee and husband Bryan, Jennifer Henry and husband Nathan, Nicki Stone, Cindy Hearn and husband JT, Caroline Russell and Catherine Devillier; and nephews, Kade Russell, Cash Devillier, and Colton Devillier. She is also survived be many aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and soon to be great nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Catherine Mary Russell, brother-in-laws Ricky Stone, Kirk Law and Kyle Devillier, and nephew Jake Stone.
Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Hamshire Children’s Ministry Fund, P.O. Box 369, Hamshire, Texas 77622.

Laurie you are already missed more than you’ll ever know. Life sometimes delivers us angels and you for sure we’re one. Gone so very young, way to soon, you will be forever young and so beautiful. Prayers for Gregg, your children, and grandchildren. God received you into Heaven to watch over your loved ones. Our friendship will be forever. We had soo many wonderful times, we laughed continuously together. Forever in my heart dear friend. See you again. Fly high honey and soar with all the other angels. Very sad I’ll miss your going home gathering. Recovering from a surgery. My heart aches because of it. I’m sending all my love and sorrow. Your soul is so beautiful Laurie and I’ll miss you. Prayers to all the family. See you again one day my friend.

Gregg and family, my words can't express how deeply sad I am at the loss of such a wonderful person. Unfortunately I never got to meet Laure face to face but we talked every workday while on our bridge call and felt such a bond with her. She taught me so much and offered me advise (wether I wanted it or not) that I will always treasure. You all are in my thoughts!

I am so sorry for the loss of Laure. My prayer to each of the family members is that God will give you peace and understanding today and the days ahead. I always remember her kindness to Bill when on the road in Texas she would meet him and go to dinner and/or visit with Don. Sending hugs and love to you today from North Carolina.

Laure was one of the best friends I will ever have. She was always there for me and my kids while they were in school and I could always call her for anything! My kids and I felt just as at home in her house as we did ours and always knew the meals would be better there. Gregg and Laure were the mother and father to my kids when I had to travel out of town and the kids knew they better behave or they could expect the same discipline as Barrett received. I am more than blessed to have been her friend
