Leonard Dellenger, Sr.

August 17, 1926 - February 12, 2018

Leonard Charles Dellenger, Sr., 91, of Groves, died Monday, February 12, 2018. He was born on August 17, 1926, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Noreta Pablo Dellenger and Philip Peter Dellenger.

Leonard was a United States Army veteran, having fought Battle of the Bulge. He also boxed in the Army. Leonard was an avid fisherman, enjoyed shooting pool, and he could really dance.

Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Dellenger Fabish of Dallas and Peggy Dellenger Vernon of Beaumont; sons, Leonard C. Dellenger, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Sugarland; Michael P. Dellenger of Groves; and Robert A. Dellenger of Vidor; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Noreta Jane Besst; and brothers, Phillip Dellenger, Kenneth Dellenger, and Stanley Dellenger.

Memorial Contributions for Mr. Dellenger may be made to Southeast Texas Veterans Group, P.O. Box 12352, Beaumont, Texas 77726.

A gathering of Mr. Dellenger’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his Rosary to follow at 1:30 p.m., and his funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
