Lucy Winberg

July 11, 1934 - September 10, 2019

Lucy Della Soukup Winberg, 85, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born on July 11, 1934, in Ellsworth, Kansas, to Dessie Grubb Soukup and Joseph Soukup.

Lucy met her husband, Travis Walker Winberg, Jr., while she was in nursing school. They got married in Houston and eventually settled in Beaumont.

Lucy was a registered nurse at Baptist hospital until she retired. She was always busy doing things when she wasn’t working. She crocheted, did needle point, and sewed. Every summer she would pack the kids up and go back to Kansas and of course the food, who could forget her teacakes and cookies and all the other goodies.

Lucy is survived by her children, Timothy Allen Winberg of Nederland; Susan Webb and her husband, Robert, of Kingwood, and Thomas Winberg and his wife, Jana, of Silsbee; stepson, Travis Walker Winberg, III of Palm Springs, California; brother, Herb Soukup and his wife, Shawna, of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Lila Keefer and her husband, Bob, of Bel Aire, Kansas; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Travis Winberg, Jr.; and brother, Joe Soukup.

A gathering of Lucy’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
