Lynda Squires

November 17, 1949 - April 24, 2017

On November 17, 1949 Lynda Gayle Squires journey began. She found everlasting peace, April 24, 2017, with the Lord. As she embraced her meeting with The Lord, she requested no memorial service be held here on earth.

She acquired a love for reading at a very young age, leading her to become the Valedictorian of Hebert High School Class of 1968.  She also grew up playing the piano at church where her dad was a pastor.  She developed a true passion for Christmas-themed orchestra.  She soon became a Licensed Vocational Nurse, for fourteen years.  After her nursing career, she worked in accounting at Docutel for a few years, prior to joining Frito Lay as a Benefit Specialist, for over twenty years.

Due to her passion for serving others and devotion to expressing gratitude to our service members, she was a Lifetime member of the VFW for children, as well as the VFW auxiliary and Ladies Shiners.  She enjoyed rides to the beach; she loved the smell of the ocean, the sounds of the waves and would sit to read from her extensive library until the sun went down.  She also had an expansive collection of flamingos and one could easily see why, as she held herself with the grace and poise of them.  In addition, she strongly believed in retail therapy where she would easily spend eight hours with her ‘therapist’ of choice.

While looking through her items we discovered a phrase in the middle of an empty notebook that truly sums up her character and I would like to end with it: “All I ask of you is forever to remember me as loving you.”

While we appreciate your condolences, we would greatly appreciate for you to share memories or stories of Our Flamingo Maiden.
