Margarete Templet

November 27, 1944 - June 6, 2019

Margarete Mary Templet, 74, of Sour Lake, took her last breath on earth and her first breath in Heaven, on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Beaumont, Texas.

Margarete was born on November 27, 1944, to Carmen Amedee and Norman Landeche, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. She was the fourth child of 5 children. The family lived in Belle Alliance, Louisiana., where her dad worked on a plantation. After the early passing of her dad in 1952, she spent most of her growing up years on the Westbank of New Orleans, Louisiana, being raised by a widowed, working mother. She attended Catholic School until she graduated in 1963. After high school, she attended cosmetology school, was married, and had two children. She worked in the beauty business for many years, was a stay at home mom for several years, but spent most of her work years in the retail store business. She worked herself up from being a warehouse stocker, to being one of the retail store’s managers. After an early retirement from the retail store business, she worked several jobs: as a convenience store clerk, a cafeteria worker, and drove our school district’s handicap bus. She was always a hard worker and even after retiring completely, she loved helping with grandchildren, her great granddaughter, her foster grandchildren, and other children in our family. She loved to help people, especially her family. She was able to go back and help her family members in Louisiana for several years. She loved being around them but missed her family in Texas while she was there. She came back and forth for several years.

Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and foster grandchildren. She loved her family in Louisiana deeply. She loved her friends and was her happiest when she was around family or friends.

Margarete had a deep faith in God and became a follower of Jesus in 1994.   She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sour Lake, Texas, but often attended other churches with family. When she could no longer drive to her church, she went to church with family. She attended Redemption Church for the last two years and enjoyed being part of the church’s community groups as long as she was physically able. She also enjoyed being able to see her first grandchild sing and lead the praise and worship music at Redemption Church. Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle King and her husband, Donnie, of Sour Lake; son, Michael Templet and his wife, Bertha, of Kountze; sister, Gwendolyn Miller of Gretna, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Sue Landeche of Marrero, Louisiana and Sharon Landeche of Gretna, Louisiana; grandchildren, Bo Michael King; Kaci Glover and her husband, Adam; Drew Templet and his fiancée, Hannah Judice; Garrett Templet; and Jamie King; and foster grandchildren, Brayden McCarty and Ryan McCarty; and great-grandchildren, Kaston Templet; Eloise King; and Isabella Glover. She is also survived by her little chihuahua, Itsie.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norman Landeche; sister, Rose Miguez; and brother, Gerard Landeche.

A gathering of Ms. Templet’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2019, at Redemption Church, 601 Park Street, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Department 41831, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265.
