Foerst Mark Allen, 91, of Silsbee, died Sunday, October 15, 2017. He was born on April 9, 1926, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to Lorene Mae Hall Allen and Ira Foerst Allen. Mr. Allen proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and later retired as finishing, shipping, and converting manager at Temple-Eastex Pulp and Paper Company. Mr. Allen was a member and a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Silsbee.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Allen; sons, Joel Allen and his wife, Kathleen, of Reston, Virginia; Doug Allen and his wife, Colleen, of Silsbee; and Kevin Allen of Paris, France; grandchildren, Kimberly Allen of Reston, Virginia; Gregory Allen and his wife, Sarah, of Richmond, Virginia; Billy Allen , and Jill Tarkington and her husband, Danny, all of Silsbee; and Nicolas, Alexandre, and Etienne Allen, of La Rochelle, France; and great-grandchildren, Bailey Allen, Anderson Allen, Clint Tarkington, Kristopher Allen, Shelby Tarkington, and Kadin Allen. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Allen and James Allen; and sister, Iris Strahle.

A gathering of Mr. Allen’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment will follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Park, Silsbee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 350 North 5th Street, Silsbee, Texas 77656.

I am so sorry for the loss of my dear Uncle Mark. He showed me love and kindness at all times. We would speak on the phone often over the past years and I always looked forward to our " political " conversations especially!! I loved him so very much!! He was more like a "Dad" than an uncle to me!! I will miss him terribly.
